Many view this title about women seeking men in that book with the same name. This is what I did to find work in this tough economy.

First and foremost: update the resume. And don’t make anything up. Hiring managers will easily see through your bullshit the moment they start asking questions. Keep to the facts.

Also, make sure you have good references. Now more than ever are employers checking your references. They have to be good people who will not hem and haw about your core strengths.

And finally, don’t give up the good fight. This is key, because you will feel discouraged. Remember that it’s a tough economy and that many people who have no business applying for the position you applied for are sending in their resumes regardlessly.

Recruiters may contact you as well. Apply with as many ad you can. You never know when that contract may become full time.

Keep searching. There are many websites for job seekers. My top four:

LinkedIn, Twitter and even Facebook have job listings. Though if your Facebook page is full of personal stuff, don’t use Facebook. Many associations have job listings too. And non-profits have pages too. Check out:

Two great sites in their own right.

I used all these sites and more. I found it interesting that many sites listed different jobs despite the fact that they all pull from many of the same sites.

If there are companies you are interested in, go to their websites as they will post positions there and not anywhere else. Though don’t be discouraged if you don’t hear from them. I have a sneaky feeling that they are just out there tho collect resumes in case they ever have an opening that might fit your background.

And keep at it every day. New jobs are posted and reposted every day of the week.

As for me? Well, I have something starting on Monday.
